Mary Kay Balch lost kidney function from lupus at age 12. Being off and on dialysis plus many blood transfusions has led to an increased antibody count. Antibodies in the blood decrease her chance to receive a kidney to less than 4%. A living donor would greatly increase her chance of a transplant.
